The Black Caps have left for Sri Lanka for a six week tour which includes India tri-series, coach says it's a daunting assignment

The Black Caps have flown out to Sri Lanka for the start of a six week tour, featuring two tests and a triangular one day series which also includes India.

The Black Caps have not won a test in the subcontinent in eleven years, other than against Bangladesh.

Coach Andy Moles says it is a daunting assignment.

"I think it's far to say that we all realise it's going to be a tough tour. Both on and off the field. Leaving cold New Zealand to go to 35 degrees plus."

New Zealand spend most of the time in Colombo, with a week's respite in the cooler coastal climate of Galle.

The Black Caps will travel to South Africa for the Champions Trophy after the Sri Lankan series.
