The international netball season is about to start but franchise futures remain up in the air for a number of top players

It disrupted the international season last year, and now player contract negotiations are threatening to do so again as the Silver Ferns head into camp.

Most of the New Zealand ANZ netball Championship teams are still going through post-season reviews, meaning the majority of players are unsigned as many only take up one year contracts.

Player movement became the hot talking point during last year's test season.

It is also something in the back of the mind of Australian coach Norma Plummer and she says her players know where their focus has to be, adding that if any players want advice they know they can contact her.

Plummer says it is something they have to deal with and not complain about, given they want the coverage and money.

A collective agreement between Netball New Zealand and the players is also yet to be signed off, although talks are well advanced.

Meanwhile, ongoing knee problems have robbed Australia of one its key players for the international season. 2009 player of the year Julie Corletto has been advised to sit out the entire season in an effort to prolong her career.

Plummer says they have had similar issues managing veteran Sharelle McMahon over the last few years and they do not want to put Corletto's long term future in jeopardy. She says Corletto is only 23-years old and there should be another 10 years in her.

The Silver Ferns go into selection camp today with the team for the international series and Delhi Commonwealth Games to be named on Friday.
