Isaac Ross, Canterbury lock, says 23-all draw with Hawke's Bay disappointing as penalty given away 3 minutes into injury time

Canterbury lock Isaac Ross is disappointed about last night's 23-all draw with Hawke's Bay in their ITM Cup opener in Christchurch.

After trailing at halftime, Canterbury led 23-20 with time up on the clock, before first-five Andrew Horrell kicked a penalty for the Magpies.

Ross says it was a shame to give away the penalty three minutes into injury time.

"We talked about our discipline and it just looked up at the last hurdle but at least it's not a loss and we'll take away two points. We've still got a few things to iron out."

There is a triple header today leading into the All Blacks test against Australia, with Manawatu hosting Southland, Counties playing Otago and Bay of Plenty take on Waikato in Hamilton.
