The star studded four skipped by Richard Girvan is through to post section play at nat bowls champs, but Sharon Sims' four is out
The Richard Girvan-skipped four has narrowly missed being a casualty at the national bowls championships in Wellington.
Girvan's team is a favourite to take the title with three New Zealand representatives in it ranks, including singles champion Andrew Todd. However, after losing two games they left it until the last game to secure their spot in post-section play.
A form reversal has seen the world's number one female bowler Val Smith make it to the last 16 in the women's fours, after early exits in the singles and pairs.
The Sharon Sims skipped combination will pay no part in post section play though, having won just two games from six.
