British tennis star Andy Murray says a desrie to become the best player in the world is the reason why he sacked coach Miles Maclagan.

World number four Andy Murray has explained the reasons behind his decision to sack coach Miles Maclagan.

Murray says his burning desire to become the game's top player and to win his first grand slam singles title prompted him to sack Maclagan.

Murray believes he and Maclagan had drifted apart in the way they viewed his development and that it was imperative for him to be comfortable with his coaching structure.

Australian Darren Cahill is widely believed to be Maclagan's likely successor.
