Breakers overcome Hawks and refs

By: Nick Walker | Latest Basketball News | Friday February 17 2012 6:42

The Sky City Breakers have overcome a slow start and some dubious refereeing decisions in beating the Wollongong Hawks 82-74 at the North Shore Events Centre.

After two failed attempts at beating the Hawks this season, another upset looked possible with the Hawks leading for the majority of the first half.

Guard CJ Bruton's tip-toeing around criticising the referees.

Bruton says he'd probably be fined for expressing his opinion of the ref's performances

Thomas Abercrombie top scored for the Breakers with 25 points.

The Breakers earn another two competition points in cementing themselves on top of the ANBL ladder.
