Pledger, Hudson promising leading up to ANBL

Alex Pledger and Will Hudson are beginning to set an imposing trend for the SkyCity Breakers before the Australian Basketball League regular season.

Pledger's been joined by the American import who top scored for the Breakers with 21 points in their final 100-93 pre-season loss against the Sydney Kings in Melbourne.

Coach Andrej Lemanis says they're a good combination.

"What we have obviously is a pretty significant advantage inside on most teams so it's just about as a group understanding how we utlise that and how we play together, how we utilise those strengths to best advantage the group."

Lemanis says it's nothing to be concerned about over the loss.

"At the weekend we had seven guys play the game so obviously fatigue for them but for the most part, the offence was again an improvement on what it has been."

The Breakers' opening game of the season is on October 5.
