Gillespie only concern ahead of Windies tour

Wellington bowler Mark Gillespie is the Black Caps' only injury concern ahead of the upcoming tour of the West Indies.

Outgoing coach John Wright says Gillespie is carrying an ankle injury.

"So he has not gone to Brisbane with our bowling group, but he's got a bit more time because he's involved in the test matches so we'll just monitor that. Other than that we look pretty good."

As the Black Caps tour of the West Indies nears, so does John Wright's impending unemployment.

The series is Wright's last as head coach

He says he hasn't had any new job opportunities arise in the last month, but he hasn't been actively pursuing a new gig.

"I really want to do a very good job trying to coach this team well in this tour. That's all I've ever endeavoured to do throughout my career and I'll be working hard to keep those standards and keep working with the boys."

The Black Caps will assemble in Miami this weekend, where they'll play two Twenty20 internationals.
