Lydia Ko may be the talk of the town, but it's another Kiwi amateur that's stolen the show after the opening round of the New Zealand Women's golf Open in Christchurch.
21-year-old Emily Perry's shot a 5-under-par 67 to join Kiwi number one Lynette Brooky and two others in a share for first place at the Pegasus course.
Perry says she got things going on the front nine, and never looked back.
She says the key to her round was her hat-trick of birdies on the fifth, sixth and seventh.
Ko's still in touch with the leaders, just two shots back in a tie for eleventh.
