Warriors take on Cowboys this afternoon

The Warriors believe today is the day they will start their run towards the NRL playoffs.

Currently placed in ninth on the ladder, the Warriors take a severely depleted Cowboys outfit, missing four players to State of Origin.

Coach Brian McClennan says they must start taking their opportunities.

"We just need to to make sure that with that dominance we get more points, when there is a momentum shift that we grab control defensively and give ourselves that opportunity of grabbing some momentum back."

Mr McClennan says even when they've lost, they haven't been far away.

"The nature of the games that we've played in we've felt like we've been in control of a large majority of some of those games gives us that confidence. We've just got to concentrate for the full 80 here."

One youngster's made way for another in a late change to the Warriors lineup this afternoon.

Omar Slaimankhel has been called in to replace Glen Fisiiahi, who has been struck down by a reoccurrence of a knee injury.

The change still means six members of the backline have recently come through the under twenties team together.

21 year old halfback Shaun Johnson says they may be young but they know each other well.

"We are very young but we've played a fair bit of footy together through the 20's and that we're just excited that we all get to be on the field at the same time again and, you know, we all know our role on the team."
