Trouble for Junior Warriors after trashing hotel

Share |

By: Andy Rowe | Rugby League News | Thursday September 20 2012 13:39

It appears some members of the Junior Warriors have got themselves into a bit of hot water.

Following their season ending loss to the Sydney Roosters on Sunday, several intoxicated players trashed their hotel room, before police were called.

Rugby league commentator Ray Hadley broadcast the claims on his 2GB radio show.

"This is from a police officer, 'they attempted to intimidate us, they tried to goad us into physical confrontation, they ignored basic directions and showed zero respect towards us, hotel staff and even their own support staff who supported police including the good old fashioned question don't you know who we are?'"

Warriors CEO Wayne Scurrah says their behaviour has been unacceptable.

"The duty manager has told this group of players 'you're leaving the hotel' and has not had the support of those players, he has then called the police and also at the same time told our team manager."

He says the club is very disappointed.

"I don't think we deserve to have that sort of arrogance at any point so, again, that's not acceptable, these are young guys, we've never had an incident like this."

Scurrah says the 16 players who were involved have been fined and will face further action.
