Glenn Stewart will be given every chance to prove his fitness in time for the deciding State of Origin game next Wednesday.

New South Wales coach Ricky Stuart's named the back rower in an extended squad for game three, despite being under an injury cloud.

Stewart suffered a knee injury playing for Manly, and initial reports suggested he would miss game three in Brisbane.

Ricky Stuart says he'll probably wait until game day before confirming his 17.

"When I find it's right to make the call. More than likely probably next Wednesday."

Dragons' Beau Scott and Manly's Tony Williams have been called in as cover, while Akuila Uate's been dropped for Brett Morris.
