Holden's Jamie Whincup's won his fourth Bathurst 1000 in the V8 Supercars.

Whincup's held off Ford's David Reynolds to take the checkered flag by just 0.3 seconds, with Vodafone team mate Craig Lowndes in third.

It's Reynolds' first podium finish in a V8 Supercars race.

Earlier, Will Davison endured a number of mechanical problems after starting on pole, narrowly avoiding injury after crashing at the fastest part of the Mount Panorama track.

Shane van Gisbergen faded after starting from third, finishing as the best of the Kiwis in 12th, with Greg Murphy in 13th.

Whincup extends his series lead over Lowndes, giving him a big advantage with four races left in the championship.
