Hayden Paddon's getting used to being behind the wheel of a new rally car. The Kiwi SWRC driver switched teams from ASM Motorsport to Austria's Baumschalger Racing last week. He'll be driving a different Skoda Fabia car for the remainder of the 2012 rally season. "I think we are going faster now, after yesterday the car felt very good right from the offset, they had a very good base set up from when they won this rally last year." He says it's started well. "Fairly natural and good and that's obviously the main thing and I feel like I can just get in the car and just focus on the driving which is crucial so certainly only going to improve from here, the results have been good this year so far but the performances haven't quite been where we wanted them to be." Paddon says nothing's changed in terms of his career path, in fact it may have improved. "Our plan is to still go WRC next year and this team has has a lot of experience of running WRC cars in the past and this team has run all the official Red Bull cars in the past, obviously aside from the Citroen." Paddon's first rally in the car will be the Rally Finland this week. Photo: Getty Images |
