Government to help save V8 race

By: Guy Heveldt | Latest Motorsport News | Friday February 17 2012 7:37

The Government is prepared to step in and help save New Zealand's leg of the V8 Supercars.

April's Hamilton 400 will be the last in the city and Supercars Chairman Tony Cochrane warns there's nowhere else in New Zealand that's suitable to take its place.

But Prime Minister John Key says they're prepared to inject cash into upgrading Pukekohe.

He says they haven't ruled it out.

Key says Whenuapai and Hampton Downs are out of the running.
