Adelaide Thunderbirds co-captain Sharni Layton will miss Australia's international netball programme this year. She's opted to under undergo surgery on a left shoulder injury suffered earlier in the year that left her with damaged ligaments. Layton played nine tests after making her test debut against the Silver Ferns last year and was a part of the team that won the World Championships in Singapore. She says she had hoped to keep playing with it strapped, but it's too instable and could risk twice the damage. The Diamonds team will be named on Saturday, meanwhile the Silver Ferns begin trialling next week. Photo: Sharni Layton (Photosport) |
