Ash Moeke has led Northland to a 20-17 win over Tasman in the ITM Cup.

Northland's first five has kicked the match-winning penalty with just seconds left on the clock in their match in Blenheim.

The Taniwha held a 10-3 halftime lead courtesy of a Derek Carpenter try, but then saw their advantage whittled away in the second half.

Three Tasman penalties and a Filipo Levi try gave the Makos a 17-10 lead, before Northland winger Mateo Malupo scored a great individual try to level the scores.

Northland then won a late penalty to allow Moeke to kick the Taniwha to their second straight win and third of the season.
