Young Crusaders prop Joe Moody has been given the opportunity to train with the All Blacks as they have potential propping issues.

Moody's been called into the squad as scrummaging training cover as four of of the five props have hamstring niggles.

Ben Franks is the only fully fit member of the quintet.

Coach Steve Hansen says Owen Franks, Tony Woodcock and Ben Afeaki didn't play last week while Wyatt Crockett only managed a half.

Woodcock also has a abscess on his nose.

Hansen says they are only small problems and they are being monitored.

"Well they might all be fit, but what we're saying is we're just monitoring how they are.

"And with Woody being in the condition he is with his abscess we just need another prop up here."

First-five Daniel Carter appears in the most doubt to play in the first test as anyone, with a cracked bone in his right hand.

Carter sustained the injury after being stood on in the Crusaders' Super Rugby win over the Waratahs in Christchurch.

He will be monitored throughout the week, but Hansen says the main problem is the swelling, not pain.

Hansen says if Carter is out, Aaron Cruden will slot into the number 10 jersey and they won't actually miss much.

"He's not too bad is he, and the feller underneath him's pretty handy too.

"So we're very fortunate that we've got people like Crudes and Barrett available."

The first test is at Eden Park on Saturday.
