They've acquired Ben Franks this season, but the Hurricanes will be on the search for a new prop for the next Super Rugby year.

Ben May is joining a host of others in leaving to Japan, signing a two-year deal with Sanex.

Blues lock Anthony Boric is also leaving New Zealand shores to Japan, but will play for Mitsubishi.

May says it's been a plan for some time.

He says he is not getting any younger and had planned that for some years.

Ben May says it makes it easier to leave the Canes when they have Franks there.
