Forbes may have to put sevens first

A Counties Manukau veteran could say goodbye to the 15 a side game after tonight's ITM Cup Championship final.

Sevens expert and Steelers captain DJ Forbes may have to pull the pin on the longer form of the game as sevens takes a bigger seat heading towards the 2016 Olympics.

Forbes is unsure about his future after taking on Otago tonight.

"It's probably lingered around a little bit, I guess ultimately that'll probably come down to the NZRU and what plan they have ... I'm just focused on this campaign."

Otago's bolstered by the addition of its three All Blacks with Adam Thomson, Ben Smith and Tamati Ellison all in the run on side.
