All Black support for Adams medal ceremony

Share |

By: Gary Denvir | Rugby News | Tuesday August 14 2012 14:09

There's plenty of support in the All Blacks ranks for a medal ceremony to be held at Eden Park for Valerie Adams.

Adams is set to exchange her Olympic silver medal for gold, following the disqualification of Belarussian Nadzeya Ostapchuk for doping.

Plans are yet to be confirmed for any official ceremony to celebrate her success back home.

All Blacks halfback Piri Weepu says it would be fantastic to be part of the occasion at Eden Park.

"I think it would be pretty special if we could get behind her and present her an official gold medal."

Piri Weepu is hoping to get a start against the Wallabies in the Bledisloe Cup opener in Sydney this weekend.

The All Blacks team is named on Thursday.
