Chiefs co-captain Craig Clarke will leave the franchise at the end of the Super Rugby season.
At the end of his fifth season with the Waikato based franchise, Clarke will join Irish club Connacht having signed a three year deal.
The 29-year-old admits he was planning on leaving a few years ago, but really enjoyed his rugby under the new management team and his decision to stay was rewarded with a Super Rugby title and Taranakiâ s first Ranfurly Shield tenure in 15 years.
Craig Clarke becomes the second senior Chief to announce their departure at seasonâ s end after centre Richard Kahui, who revealed heâ d signed a two year deal to play in Japan last week.
Former Blues coach Pat Lam is the coach at the Irish club.
