The Super Rugby final is still two days away but it's a key day for the Chiefs. Co-captain Craig Clarke will undergo a fitness test on his injured knee, which if he were to fail, would have a big impact on the make-up of the pack. Kane Thompson's the man favoured to move from number eight to the second row if needed. Chiefs forward coach Tom Coventry says Liam Messam would be an option at eight, but it's preferred he doesn't. "We tried to specialise him in the six position, I know he can play eight but we just saw his future as a six for this side and possibly going forward into the All Blacks we thought that Jerome Kaino's vacancy would probably leave Liam a spot to really have a crack at." The Chiefs team will be named at around 4pm, while the Sharks arrive in Hamilton early this evening. Photo: Photosport |
