Asaeli Tikoirotuma has equalled the record for most tries by one player in a Super Rugby game to lead the Chiefs to a thrilling 41-34 victory over the Blues at North Harbour Stadium.

Tikoirotuma has crossed the line four times while Sonny Bill Williams also scored as the Chiefs maintained their position at the top of the competition ladder.

The sides were locked at 20-all at the halftime break and traded tries throughout the second half before Tikoirotuma scored the match-winner with around 10 minutes to go.

He joins 10 other players to have the record of four tries in a match.

The Blues scored four tries of their own.
