The Chiefs have held off a fast finishing Highlanders side to win their Super Rugby match 27-21 in Dunedin. Highlanders wing Hosea Gear scored a try with just three minutes remaining to give his side a sniff. However despite a desperate surge into Chiefs territory deep into injury time they were unable to secure a match winning try. Both teams scored two tries each, with Aaron Cruden nailing five penalties for the visitors and Chris Noakes three for the Highlanders. Tim Nanai-Williams and Robbie Robinson scored the Chiefs two five pointers, while Andrew Hore scored the Highlanders first try. Photo: Jason Rutledge is tackled by Chiefs players (Photosport) |
