Southland demolishes Magpies with first win

Southland's recorded its first win of the ITM Cup season in emphatic fashion.

The Stags have scored four unanswered second half tries to thrash Hawke's Bay 35-7 in Invercargill.

Jamie Mackintosh, Jason Rutledge, Tim Cornforth and Dion Bates all crossed for tries to ensure Southland snap their drought.

The hosts led 9-7 at halftime.

Southland remains second to last in the championship standings but now boast seven competition points, while Hawke's Bay remain rooted to the bottom of the premiership.
