Tasman's registered the first upset of the ITM Cup with a 25-22 victory over Canterbury in Nelson. The Makos dominated for long periods, but appeared to have their hopes dashed when a late try to Canterbury winger Johnny McNicholl put the visitors in front. However, Tasman rallied and a late charge-down saw the ball end up in the hands of replacement Kieron Fonotia, who crashed through a handful of defenders to score under the posts. The hosts were the better side for the majority of the game, and outscored their neighbours three tries to one. Photo: Photosport |
