Spain is through to the Euro 2012 semi-finals after accounting for France in their quarter-final in Ukraine. Xabi Alonso put the World Cup holders ahead after just 19 minutes and he then added a penalty with the 90 minutes up on the clock to secure the result. French manager Laurent Blanc says they knew what was coming, but they just couldn't stop it.
"(Translated) we had looked a lot at the Spanish side and we knew they were really good on the left hand side. The most frustrating thing is the fact that we actually conceded on that side of the pitch and we'd actually planned to stop them there. So that's what's infuriating." Spain will play Portugal in the final four.
Germany's already through to the semi-finals and they'll meet the winner of tomorrow's quarter-final between England and Italy.
