Bleiberg quits as Gold Coast coach

By: Radio Sport staff | Latest Football News | Monday February 20 2012 6:37

Miron Bleiberg has quit as Gold Coast United coach within hours of owner Clive Palmer being condemned by football chiefs for labelling the A-League a joke.

Bleiberg was suspended by Palmer, the billionaire owner and chairman of the last-placed club, after describing the appointment of 17-year-old rookie Mitch Cooper as captain as ceremonial.

Bleiberg has taken away his dignity and he had no option but to quit.

Sydney FC meanwhile is into the top six after a 2-1 win over Adelaide United.
