Bike NZ High Performance manager Mark Elliott believes the Kiwi team pursuiters can close the gap on Australia and Britain in time for the Olympics.
New Zealand has beaten Belgium in the ride off for third and fourth in a time of three minutes 59 point two.
But it was nearly five seconds slower than Australia's winning time over Britain.
But Elliott says there are mitigating factors.
He says Australia and Britain had their top teams while they didn't with Jesse Sergent riding with his pro team.
New Zealand finished with three medals from the meet with the World Champs next on the agenda in April.
