Former New Zealand cricketer Nathan Astle was aggressive as a batsman, now he's showing similar traits on the speedway track. Astle finished third in the South Island sprintcar championships at Ruapuna Speedway on the weekend. It's his debut season in a V8 sprintcar after two years racing a modified sprint - he set the fastest time of the 22 drivers in his qualifying heat. Jason Scott took the title with Ray Baughan second. |
