The New Zealand men's hockey team is praising the quick response from medical staff following the treatment of Blair Hilton for appendicitis. Hilton has re-joined the team, after having his appendix removed in a Malaysian hospital. Assistant coach Darren Smith says the medical team at the Azlan Shah tournament were quick to find the problem. "They diagnosed him really quickly, got him down to one of the private hospitals and he took a blood test to figure out what was going on with him. They came up with the appendix really quickly and he also had the surgery really quickly." Hilton's replacement in the squad, Shay Neal, has joined the squad but is unlikely to play against Argentina tonight. Photo: Photosport |
