New Zealand is out of contention at the women's World Team Squash Championships in France.

The fifth seeded Kiwis have been beaten 2-nil by Malaysia in the quarter-finals.

New Zealand's top-ranked player Joelle King was unable to get any momentum against Malaysia's Nicol David, beaten in straight games.

It was David's 25th straight win at the biennial event.

It meant Jaclyn Hawkes needed to upset her opponent, but despite winning game, she eventually lost three games to one.

New Zealand will now play Ireland in the fifth to eighth playoffs.
