The New Zealand men's pair faces an issue that only sport's absolute elite can relate to. They've been undefeated, are Olympic champions, the fastest pair in history and have nothing left to achieve together in the sport. Hamish Bond says there's a sense of aimlessness now as they look ahead to where they go next. "It's great having that single goal, it gives you something to strive for and get out of bed for, but I'm sure we'll find something new to do or new to focus on very shortly but right now I'm just looking forward to having a night's rest in my own bed." Bond says he'll decide his future in the sport over the coming months and weeks. "There's a degree of aimlessness I guess. you've had that single purpose and objective for so long then all of a sudden you've achieved what you've set out to achieve." He says if he's going to move into another boat, he'd like it to be the eight. Photo: Photosport |
