Star rowers consider forming an eight

Some of New Zealand's Olympic gold medallist rowers are seriously considering putting an eight together.

Dominant men's pair Eric Murray and Hamish Bond floated the idea in discussions between themselves after returning from London with the gold.

They've also attempted to get gold medal single sculler Mahe Drysdale on board and he's told Tony Veitch, it's a possibility.

"It's something that I'd definitely consider. I guess for me I've ticked off all the boxes in my career that I've wanted to do and if there was a new challenge, that's definitely something I'd look at seriously."

Murray says if they don't have an eight on the water, they're losing a tonne of talented rowers.

He says they met up with Beijing bronze medallist in the pair, George Bridgewater, who says he would come out of retirement.
