Auckland teams lead National Hockey League

Auckland's men's and women's teams lead the way after the opening round of the National Hockey League.

Both sides scored two wins in the first weekend of the competition, with the men thrashing Midlands 4-nil in their second game and the women overcoming their Midlands rivals 2-1.

Canterbury's alongside Auckland at the top of the women's league after also going through the weekend unbeaten, with a 3-nil win over Central in their Sunday game.
