The Black Sticks men have been comprehensively beaten by Australia 5-1 in the second of three tests in Cairns. The hosts led 2-1 at halftime, with Stephen Jenness finding the back of the net for the Kiwis, before the Kookaburras ran away with the second half.
Captain Dean Couzins acknowledges the Kookaburras are ahead of them at the moment.
"Australia is tracking better than us, but they're not in our pool at the Olympics so if I end up playing Australia I'm probably going to be pretty happy because I can almost bet my house on it that Australia will be in the semi-finals so I wouldn't mind playing them then." The loss is on the back of their opening 6-1 defeat on Friday, with the third test tomorrow night. Photo: Stephen Jenness (Photosport) |
