Radford one step closer

By: ANDY ROWE | Latest Swimming News | Saturday January 14 2012 16:57

Kiwi swimmer Kane Radford has moved one step closer to qualifying for the London Olympics.

Radford has finished second to Australian Trent Grimsey in the 10 kilometre New Zealand Open Water Swimming Championships at Lake Taupo.

By finishing as one of the top two kiwi competitors, Radford has made it through to Juneâ s final Olympic qualifier in Portugal.

Radford says it is all about getting that step closer to London and that is what he has done.

Fellow kiwi Jonathan Pullon finished third to also make it through to the next stage.

Cara Baker and Charlotte Webby were second and third behind Australian Melissa Gorman to make it through in the women's qualifiers.
