New Zealand's Olympic swim team has been hampered by the outbreak of whooping cough that's cancelled a meet in Canberra.

Swimming Australia pulled the pin on the Grand Prix meet after two cases of whooping cough from visiting athletes to reduce any risk of infection.

The New Zealand team will now remain at a training camp in Cairns until Saturday.
