More disappointment for NZ's Camper

By: Elliott Smith | Latest Yachting News | Sunday February 19 2012 6:57

Camper's had to settle for a lowly fourth in the Sanya in-port leg of the Volvo Ocean Race.

The Team New Zealand run outfit were sixth, but were unable to fight back enough to overhaul the lead held by overall leaders Telefonica.

Skipper Chris Nicholson says after making significant changes to their onboard performance, the result is disappointing.

He says they communicated and started well but missed a shift, which they paid for.

Meanwhile, leg four to Auckland due to begin later today will be split into two stages with treacherous waves of up to eight metres expected in the South China Sea.

Boats will complete an inshore course in Sanya Bay, before being held until conditions have lifted enough to begin the journey to the City of Sails.
