Justin Thomas breaking records at US Open

Justin Thomas has rocketed into contention at the US golf Open at Erin Hills with a record-breaking third round.

The American has carded a nine-under 63, the lowest round to par in tournament history to sit 11-under overall.

Thomas is alongside compatriot Brian Harman in a share of second, with Englishman Tommy Fleetwood having just taken the lead at 12-under.

Thomas is the 31st golfer to shoot a 63 at a major.

Meanwhile Lydia Ko's moved into striking position at the LPGA event in Michigan.an.

The world number two has fired a third round five-under 64 to move to 11 under for the tournament, four back from the lead in a share of seventh.
