Michael Hendry has won the 2017 New Zealand golf Open in Queenstown.

He's beaten fellow Kiwi Ben Campbell and Australian Brad Kennedy in a playoff, after the trio had finished tied for the lead at 19-under par after 72 holes.

Hendry only needed a par on the first playoff hole to secure the Brodie Breeze Cup, after Campbell and Kennedy had both found the water from their tee shots.

He's the first New Zealander since Mahal Pearce in 2003 to win the national open.

New Zealand number two Ryan Fox has finished tied for sixth at 16-under par.
