Simon Mannering is being cautious as he works his way back from a hamstring injury.

The veteran Warriors back-rower was forced to skip last week's loss in Penrith and isn't ready to return for Friday night's NRL match against the Dragons in Hamilton.

Mannering said he has his fingers crossed he'll be able to play against the Broncos next week, but he can't be over eager.

"Hamstrings are an injury you cant play through, it restricts you from running and if you try you're going to make it a hell of a lot worse and you'll be out for a long time."
