A new year and a new direction for the New Zealand women's hockey team.
The youthful Black Sticks side has been named for next month's test series against Argentina, with experienced players Anita McLaren, Gemma Flynn and Charlotte Harrison all taking an extended break.
Black Sticks assistant coach Sean Dancer says they're excited about what the future holds for them.
Dancer says the absence of such senior players has given newer players the opportunities to come in and push for spots which he hopes will be filled after the upcoming Argentinian Tour.
There are three uncapped players in the Black Sticks squad to face Argentina in six tests.
