Los Angeles will go from having no American football presence a year ago to having two teams by the start of next season.

The San Diego Chargers have announced they will join the recently relocated Rams in LA from next season.

A statement from the team says San Diego will always be part of the Chargers' identity but today they turn the page and begin a new era.

The Chargers' decision to move comes less than three months after San Diego voters resoundingly rejected a team-sponsored measure asking for one and a half billion dollars in taxes to fund a new stadium and convention centre.
