Sophie Pascoe nominated for Laureus World Sports Award

Kiwi swimmer Sophie Pascoe has been nominated for a Laureus Award.

Pascoe is up for the world sportsperson of the year with a disability award, after her five medal haul at the Rio Olympics.

Usain Bolt heads the list of sportsman of the year nominees, alongside 5k and 10k Olympic champion Mo Farah, tennis world number one Sir Andy Murray, basketballers Steph Curry and Lebron James and footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.

Swim star Katie Ledecky, gymnast Simone Biles, sprinters Elaine Thompson and Allyson Felix, tennis number one Angelique Kerber and British cyclist Laura Kenny make up the women's nominees.

Michael Phelps heads the nominees in the Comeback of the Year category, while the Chicago Cubs are among those nominated for team of the year.

Fiji's Olympic champion men's sevens team is up for breakthrough of the year, as are English Premier League champions Leicester City.
