New Zealand squash player Paul Coll has beaten yet another world-ranked top 10 player to advance into the quarter-finals at the Tournament of Champions in New York.

Coll, 24, who earned entry to the tournament as a qualifier, extended his winning streak to 10 matches after downing world No.7 Ali Farag of Egypt 11-8 11-8 8-11 11-7 in just on an hour.

Coll is the first New Zealand man since former world No.2 Ross Norman to make the world top 20 in more than 30 years.

Currently 20th in the world, Coll will meet 11th-ranked Englishman James Willstrop in the quarter-finals on Wednesday (NZT).

In the women's draw, Joelle King eased through her first round match with an 11-4 11-9 11-7 victory over former world No.2 Natalie Grinham of the Netherlands.

Ranked 10th in the world, the Kiwi now faces No.5 Laura Massaro (England) in a tricky second-round match on Wednesday.
