Broncos win 30-24 against Cowboys to open NRL season; St George/Illawarra Dragons win 18-12 against Eels

The Brisbane Broncos snatched a dramatic 30-24 win over the North Queensland Cowboys at Suncorp Stadium to open their NRL season.

Former Warriors winger Denan Kemp scored the match-winning try for the Broncos after the Cowboys had overturned a 24-nil deficit to level the scores with 10 minutes remaining.

In other results, the St George/Illawarra Dragons won 18-12 against the Parramatta Eels in Sydney. Dragons five-eighth Jamie Soward says it was an impressive first-up performance. He says it was a good way to start the year. The Dragons made just one mistake throughout the match.
