A chance for Henry Nicholls to do some reconnaissance ahead of New Zealand's five-match one-day international cricket series against India.
In his Black Caps downtime, he's intending to play a Twenty20 match for Canterbury against Central Districts at Napier on Saturday.
The squad to play India has not been selected, but McLean Park returns to international duty the following Thursday for the opening match.
Nicholls says it'll be handy to see how the pitch and outfield plays - McLean Park has been re-turfed after not seeing international cricket since 2015.
The January 23 forecast is for fine weather.
