Todd Carney had the NRL world at his feet but had to watch it all go down the drain due to a social media post of his infamous ‘bubbler’ incident at Northies in Cronulla.
At the time someone posted the footage of Carney appearing to urinate in his own mouth on Instagram, and that was the end of his both stellar and incident-filled NRL career.
Now Carney has written a new book chronicling his career and his downhill spiral.
He told Martin Devlin that he normally doesn't look back on his experiences, but now felt like the right time.
Carney says that he looks back on the early years of his career and sees a "young brat" who resorted to his age as a defence.
"Everyone around me said 'you're a young kid, you'll grow out of it'. That was my coping mechanism. And then I guess down the track, it became stupid things."
